It’s been awhile

Category: UncategorizedPete @ 12:41 pm

Man I have been so busy! Let’s catch up. I had microfracture surgery August 14th. Just a week or 2 after I signed a new 3-fight deal with a promotion I said I would never work for again and believe it or not I was happy with my decision to go back to the MFC! I fought my first fight of my new contract just 8 weeks after my surgery on October 2nd and won by 2nd round KO!

I was invited to attend the 1st MMA Expo in NYC October 24th and 25th and it was a great experience!

Our gym is just blowing up with new students and Rodrigo and I are so busy with that.

Aaron Rosa and I are headed to Kansas City for his fight this weekend live on Showtime for the Strikeforce Challengers event against Feijao!

Then I am off to Bahrain December 7th-11th with Rodrigo for his fight against Dave Hulett. www.rawpowerbh.com.

Then, i am back at it Jan 2nd against Keith Wisniewski in Hammond Id.

Tested out the Knee

Category: UncategorizedPete @ 12:54 pm

Tested out the knee last night with some light sparring in my muay thai class. I can still move around effectively but my knee feels weird. It’s all tight from fluid build up. Everything seems stable but I just cant bend it totally or straighten it. Oh well MRI results coming soom.

Today’s workouts!

Man today’s workouts were tough! I got to Gold’s Gym at 10:30 am at did a mile on the treadmill and proceeded to do my leg, back and bicep routine. That took me about an hour! Got back home and enjoyed Judge Mathis, People’s Court and just relaxed before that dreadful 5:30 Crossit workout at Alamo Crossfit.com.

For today’s WOD we did Max chins in which I did 26 before my hands started hurting, lol! Then we proceeded to the WOD which consisted of 3 Power Cleans (135lbs), 6 push ups and 9 air squats = (1). 5 sets for 3 minutes with 1 minute rest as many rounds as you can per set. 1st set I completed 6 rounds. I was thinking, “This aint gonna be so bad!”, boy was I wrong! Set 2, I did 5 and for sets 3-4 I did 4! At this point I decided to finish strong and my goal was to complete 7 rounds in 3 minutes, well I didnt quite make it, I jumped back up to 6 finishing very strong. I was proud of my finish but disappointed about rounds 3-4, I should have done at least 5! Anyway I finished withh a total of 25.

After crossfit I got home around 6:15 pm and relaxed and played with my daughter till I had to leave again for the gym to train my guys for the evening. 6:45 I am back in the gym at Rodrigo Pinheiro BJJ. I am training my pro guys Aaron Rosa, Rodrigo Pinheiro, Diego Ceara and my ammy Cliff Mckinley. Today’s workout for the pro’e were 3×5 minute rounds of MMA grappling with a fresh guy every minute! After I trained those guy, I put my MMA class through their conditioning workout. I started the day at 178lbs and finished at 172lbs. By bedtime I was wornout and sore! Oh what a life! LOL!

Get some fights on a real show!

Category: UncategorizedPete @ 12:14 am

For some odd reason this one particular guy seems to want to fight me here in Texas. The guy has one fight! Is he deserving of my time seeing that I have Strikeforce in my immediate future and my show money exceedes 5 figures these days! What promotion in Texas is willing to pay me $10k+ to fight a guy that has one fight? I dont know. But there is one particular promotion in Texas that I fought for not too long along ago that I was not happy with. Some of you may be familiar with it. I was sheduled to fight this same guy and he ended up having a family emergency and had to leave the country. I agreed to this fight being that I was on a 2 fight skid from consecutive UFC losses and I needed the fight badly to get back in the groove. Anyway it didnt happen. I had a replacement fighter that they offered me and I accepted but what they failed to relay to me is that they contractually made the fight at 175lbs for him and kept me thinking the fight was at 170lbs. I spend a day cutting to 170lbs when in reality I could have spent about an hour to make 175 with no problem. I found out about the weight agreement at the weigh ins! Nice time to get filled in! In any event the fight was on, I couldn’t believe the lack of organization of thsi promotion. My comp tickets for my wife and daughter were given away to some dude who said I left tickets for them when will call had my wife’s name. She arrives and I have to deal with getting her in, then I had to deal with my corner finding me gloves to wear because the promotion did not supply any gloves and on top of that, the show was running behind and the commission was going to shut the event down at midnight and they were on fight 4 of an 12 bout card at 10:30! It was pathetic and I said I would NEVER fight for this promotion again! With that being said, I have received 2 phone calls to fight for this promotion and when I turned down an offer to fight for their title, several months later I get a call to fight this guy again in November. I was like no not interested but I will keep this guy in mind for one of the bigger shows I fight on IF and only IF this guy gets some more fights. He hasn’t earned the right to step in the cage/ring with me considering he backed out of a fight this past weekend with my boy Anthony Njokuani! Anyway enough of my babbling. I hope you guys enjoy the revamped site version 2.0! I will be posting blogs and videos regularly!
